The 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, and the notable author, social reformer and abolitionist, Frederick Douglass, are often acknowledged as being two of the most influential men of the Civil War. While Lincoln continues to be respected for his actions against slavery, Douglass is not referenced nearly as much.
