The 80’s are back in San Diego County! Lamb’s Players Theatre is currently presenting a revival of the 1980’s- themed musical revue, miXtape.
The 1980s – the Reagan era with its personalities, politics, entertainment and pop culture – has always had a special place in the American psyche, and it has experienced a resurgence over the past few years. Its recent popularity has been driven, in part, by a combination of nostalgia and science fiction stories such as “Ready Player One” and Netflix’s “Stranger Things.”
The Globe has pulled ‘As You Like It’ ahead into the 18th Century with nary a hitch in a lovely outdoor production nicely staged by Jessica Stone and dressed by a gang of outdoor formalists.
The stars were out at Saturday night’s Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra concert at the Balboa Theatre. Coloratura soprano Ellie Dehn sang with breathtaking authority in Mozart’s unjustly overlooked choral gem “Davide penitente,” K. 469, and violinist Augustin Hadelich played a mesmerizing account of Beethoven’s beloved Violin Concerto in D Major.
