“Perfect Wedding” is a Fun Farce

On paper, Perfect Wedding does not sound like a very satisfying comedy. Reading a plot synopsis beforehand makes the play seem like a painfully corny experience that is dull and unoriginal.

A “Gem” of a show at the Bowers Museum

A review of “Gems of the Medici” now on view at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana. The exhibition features carved gems, medallions, and gold amassed by the Medici—Renaissance Italy’s most famous and powerful family. The exhibition features important ancient cameos from the Hellenistic and Roman eras along with spectacular gems made during the Renaissance and Baroque periods.

Desperate and Gentle Characters at SD Fringe Festival

On the last day of the San Diego Fringe Festival, there’s still one more chance to see “Oyster Boy” (today at 5 p.m.) and “The Desperate Characters of Mercer County” (6:30 p.m.), both at Space 4 Art. Both shows have their charms, for instance, the Greek/Hawaiian chorus in “Oyster Boy.”
