In Irish playwright Conor McPherson’s “Shining City,” we are invited to pick up the shards of redemption in the shattered lives of four contemporary Dubliners and a recent ghost. Ion theatre’s SanDiego premiere of this 2004 play adds another gem to this company’s crown of emotionally taut and engaging productions.

Former Martha Graham Dancer became Pilates Master Teacher

Julian Littleford, a former dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company and popular master teacher of Pilates, has died of cancer. The owner of J.L. Body Conditioning Inc.in Del Mar was 53.

Raymond Leppard and Festival Orchestra Bring SummerFest to a Genial Close

SummerFest Music Director Cho-Liang Lin thought he had a coup signing up Los Angeles Opera’s Music Director James Conlon to conduct the 2013 SummerFest finale concert, that is until maestro Conlon bowed out for some emergency surgery. Fortunately, the estimable British conductor Raymond Leppard stepped in on short notice to lead the chamber orchestra in a glowing program of Mozart and Benjamin Britten.
