Beauty and the Beast is a solid, highly enjoyable show that features the work of the original Broadway creative team. It performs at the Civic Theatre through Sunday under the auspices of Broadway/San Diego
Forget about cute little mice in the battle scene. In “A Culture Shock Nutcracker,” the rodents are rats in slashed tights, creeping in low like a street gang, wonderfully nasty. This hip hop take on “The Nutcracker” ballet gets a lot right its first time out; but there’s room for some redos the next time around.
It’s 2014, the start of a new theatre year, and the Welk Theatre San Diego starts the new season off right with a scrumptious production of Cole Porter’s Anything Goes as the dessert for its buffet lunch or dinner.
At the end of our first full year of operation we thought it would be fun to provide a look back and some of the high and low-lights of the past year.
